How-To Videos from PR3

I’ve found a new like-minded friend in Rajeev, who likes to share his knowledge!

Check out his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/PR3Systems

Rajeev’s goal is to release a new video each week about Information Server.  “Subscribe” to his channel to be notified of the videos he creates.

This channel contain information about DataStage, Information Analyzer, Change Data Capture (CDC), Information Governance Catalog, etc.:

  • Reading / writing / processing Hadoop files, XML, Excel, etc.
  • Governance
  • Profiling
  • Replication
  • and more!

Real-time Replication with DataStage

This is an excellent article on how to use DataStage as a target for your IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR) / Change Data Capture (CDC) processes.

This architecture can be utilized with a package called CDD (Change Data Delivery), which has restrictions.  The target can only be used to feed data to DataStage/QualityStage, MDM Server, and Warehouse.  The number of CDC sources and their operating systems is irrelevant.

Or, the restriction is lifted if IIDR/CDC and DataStage are purchased separately.

Why would someone do this?  With DataStage as a target for your real-time feed of transactions, you can use the power of ETL logic to add complex transformations, multiple targets, lookups, etc.!

Namit Kambra Blog

An IBMer in India has a very nice InfoServer blog…lots of great information:
http://namitkabra.wordpress.com/

Namit has an excellent blog about Information Integration, Big Data, Cloud, Governance and more.

I like this “full picture” view of InfoServer:

Information Server Grid Redbooks

Thinking of deploying a Grid? Check out the Redbooks!

Deployment Architecture Redbook. – Dec 2012

Older “Deploying a Grid Solution with IBM Infosphere Information Server” Redbook – Sept 2008

One additional Redbook:

Platform LSF is the preferred resource manager over Loadleveller.

Note: the Grid toolkit which supports this style of deployment is not a product, but rather an Advanced Consulting asset delivered as part of a Services engagement.

Solution Guides

IBM has launched a new form of collateral called a “Solution Guide”. They are basically a 10-15 pager that covers a specific technical area. They are more detailed then a data sheet but not as heavy as a Redbook…even though they are called Redbooks. It sounds as though there may be more coming!
