End Of Marketing (EOM) and End Of Service (EOS) announcements

EOM = a product version can no longer be sold
EOS = a product version is no longer supported

Why does IBM have EOM and EOS?
– A significant part of the customer base has already moved to one of the newer versions
– EOM and EOS are announced well in advance, to provide customer base time to plan and work with IBM on upgrade plans
– Several customers have indicated that their management approval for upgrade investments cannot happen until EOM or EOS is announced.
